Teo Kaye first came to Central Asia in 2004 on a Yale University grant, following in the footsteps of Great Game explorer Ney Elias. After graduation, he immersed himself in Uzbek at the University of Indiana, then took up a University teaching post in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. He now edits an English newspaper in Bishkek while pursuing freelance reporting and photojournalism projects. He speaks fluent Chinese and Tajik and can get around in Russian and Uzbek.
Tom Wellings is a cartoonist from Liverpool, England, currently based in Bishkek. His day job focuses on inspiring a love of English literature in Kyrgyz teens.
